Not in the map pack?

The top three Google Maps listings take most of the calls. Organic rankings below them do not automatically put you in those three.

Not in the Map Pack? | Google Maps Local SEO

What is the map pack?

Short answer: The block of three local businesses with a map on Google search, usually above normal website results on mobile.

When someone searches for a service plus a place, or “near me”, Google often shows three Business Profile listings first. Most people tap call or directions there and never scroll.

Being on page one of normal results without being in the three Maps spots still costs you enquiries.

Why am I not in the top three?

Short answer: Google weighs relevance (categories and services), distance or service area, and prominence (reviews, photos, clicks, and consistent NAP across the web).

A weak or unverified profile, wrong primary category, or details that do not match your website will keep you out even if your site is decent.

Strong competitors with more genuine reviews and a complete profile are hard to displace in one week, but fixing the basics is where every map-pack campaign starts.

See the Google Business Profile guide for verification and NAP.

I rank on Google but not on Maps

Short answer: Website SEO and Maps use overlapping but different signals. Search Console clicks do not mean you are winning the map pack.

It is common to see blog traffic or a few keyword rankings while Maps stays quiet. The fix is profile work plus a site that clearly states services and areas, which is why I bundle both.

What to fix first

Short answer: Verify the profile, align name/address/phone with the site, fix categories and services, add photos, then build a steady review habit.

After that, service and area pages on the site support relevance for competitive searches around Warrington and nearby towns.

FAQ

Quick answers.

How long to get into the map pack?

Profile fixes can move visibility in weeks; beating entrenched competitors takes months of consistent reviews and relevance. Nobody can guarantee position three or better.

Does paying for Google Ads replace the map pack?

Ads can supplement visibility but stop when you stop paying. Organic map presence builds on assets you own: site, profile, and reviews.
