Google Business Profile: fix Maps visibility
When you are not in the map pack, the problem is usually the profile itself or a mismatch with your website, not “SEO magic.”

Profile + pin + call button
This is what customers tap in the map pack: your listing on Maps, linked to your Google Business Profile. Name, address, and phone should match your website footer and contact page, not an old mobile or a different trading name.
- Name Digistruct Consulting Warrington - Online Growth Partner
- Address Unit HL1, Evans House, Norman St, Warrington WA2 7HW
- Phone 07721 771273
Digistruct’s listing is the example; your audit checks the same fields on your business.
Why is my business not showing on Google Maps?
Short answer: Check verification status, primary category, address or service area, and whether your site shows the same name, address, and phone as the profile.
The map pack pulls from Google Business Profile. If the profile is unverified, incomplete, or marked duplicate, you will not appear for competitive searches no matter how good your website is.
Start in the profile dashboard: confirm ownership, pick the most accurate primary category, fill services, add real photos, and set opening hours. Then search your exact business name on Google; if the knowledge panel is wrong, fix the profile first.
Profile suspended or stuck in verification
Short answer: Follow Google’s in-product prompts, submit only real documents, and remove policy violations (fake reviews, keyword-stuffed business names, virtual offices you do not staff).
Suspensions happen for guideline breaches or suspicious edits. Do not create a second listing; that makes it worse.
If verification postcodes or video requests fail, use the official help flow. Once reinstated, keep the profile stable while you align the website.
Wrong phone, address, or old business name online
Short answer: Your website, Google profile, and key directories must show the same core details (NAP: name, address, phone).
Google compares signals. If your site still shows an old mobile, a PO box, or a different trading name, Maps trust drops.
Update the site footer and contact page, then the profile, then major citations (Apple Maps, Bing Places, trade bodies). I do this alignment as part of the standard package.
Getting Google reviews without fakes
Short answer: Ask happy customers after each visit, make the link easy, reply to every review, and never buy reviews or use review gating.
Steady genuine reviews beat a sudden burst of five-star spam. A simple SMS or email with a direct Google review link works for most service businesses.
Reviews also matter for AI visibility on other platforms; ChatGPT cannot read Google’s review text, which is why multi-platform reputation is part of modern local SEO.
Business Profile vs Search Console
Short answer: Profile = Maps and local listing actions (calls, direction requests). Search Console = website clicks from Google web search. Both matter; neither counts the other’s actions.
Owners often see strong Maps calls while Search Console shows modest clicks. That is normal for local services.
I report both where data exists, like on the Phoenix case study, so you see the full picture.
FAQ
Quick answers.
How long until my Business Profile shows on Maps after fixes?
Verification and category changes can take a few days to a few weeks. If the profile was suspended, you must resolve Google’s request first; there is no legitimate shortcut.
Should my website phone number match my Google profile exactly?
Yes. The same number, business name, and address (or service-area rules) on site, profile, and directories. Mismatch is one of the commonest reasons Maps downgrades or hides a listing.
