Why answers feel bland
Out of the box, ChatGPT (and similar tools) do not know:
- your services, prices and exclusions
- how you talk to customers
- your process from enquiry to job done
- what you must never promise
So they default to safe, generic advice.
The fix is structure, not smarter prompting alone
TODO: Harrison: optional screenshot or anonymised example of a custom assistant
- **Knowledge:** services, areas, FAQs, tone examples.
- **Guardrails:** what requires human approval.
- **Connections:** website forms, inbox, CRM where relevant.
That is the difference between "using ChatGPT" and building a custom AI assistant that fits how you work.
Quick wins you can do today
- Paste your services page and ask the model to answer as *your* business, not a generic tradesperson.
- Save three examples of emails you are proud of as tone references.
- Never send customer-facing text without reading it first.
When to go further
If you are repeating the same prep every day (quotes, replies, social, summaries), a custom setup pays for itself quickly. See automation & CRM for wiring it into the workflow.
